Addis Ababa to Host African Union Summit

ADDIS ABABA (25/01/08) – The 10th African Union (AU) ordinary session, the first of the African leaders gathering in the Ethiopian millennium, would create a better tourism opportunity, the Addis Ababa City Caretaker Administration (AACA) disclosed.

Ato Misganu Arga, the Administration’s Cabinet Member and Information Bureau Head, told the Addis Ababa Millennium Office that residents should render a healthy treatment to the leaders who come to attend the 10th ordinary session in a friendly and hospitable manner as usual.

According to the Head, as the city is a seat to embassies of various countries, international organizations and African Union, it has become a very good suitable place.

“The selection of Addis Ababa city to hosting the summit shows how best it’s safe and sound,” he noted.

“The summit is beneficial to the metropolis especially in the development of tourism sector,” indicating he added, “the AACA together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has exerted maximum efforts for the success of the upcoming leaders summit.

Ato Misganu disclosed that the Addis Ababa Millennium Secretariat has made preparations to distribute copies of a special millennium magazine and book, which lights the historiography of the metropolis, at the ordinary session.

AU leaders’ 10th ordinary session will be opened here in the capital on January 28, 2008.
