Addis Ababa Hails Media’s Intervention

Addis Ababa (28/12/ 2007)- Media reports of the new Ethiopian millennium celebration has been playing important role in building the positive image of the country, said the Addis Ababa City Administration.

Mr Misganu Arga, Head of the Addis Ababa City Information and Culture Bureau and Vice Chairman of Addis Ababa City Administration Millennium Council, told journalists that BBC, CNN and AFP, including local media houses, indicate the new millennium celebration would give confidence to Ethiopia to enhance efforts underway to pull its people out of the quagmire of poverty.

According to Mr Misganu, the Addis Ababa Millennium Secretariat has compiled those local and international media reports about the eve of the Ethiopian Millennium Celebration posted on the web site in the form of document-Vol 1, in a bid to promote culture, history and socio-economic activities of Ethiopia.

Based on 70 media web sites, this Cyber Space News Digest on Ethiopian Millennium eve celebration  (the document) has been compiled in a way to help Academicians as a source of information and for research purposes.

“This volume, 275 pages, will be distributed to people in CD and periodical format,” he added.
