Ministry Underscores Supporting Older Persons, Pensioners

Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs said giving special attention to the older persons and pensioners would help to achieve significant development in the new Millennium.

In a press statement given jointly with the Addis Ababa Millennium Secretariat and the Ethiopian Older Persons’ and Pensioners’ Association in connection with older and Pensioners Week festival , the Ministry noted that those policies and strategies designed in line with their aspiration need to be implemented according to the national action plan.

Particularly, the youth expected to play a great role in providing care and support for the elderly people and the pensioners, said the statement. Older Persons’ and Pensioners’ Week has been celebrated with various events beginning from October 1 to October 7 2007.
